Empowering Rwanda Through Community Tourism
In a joint initiative between Huza Gateway and VALUED Program, a transformative tourism workshop was launched with the goal of equipping Rwandan adults with practical knowledge and confidence to thrive in Rwanda’s rapidly growing tourism industry.
The workshop brought together over 50 adults from local communities to engage in hands-on training, cultural exploration, and entrepreneurial development. From crafting authentic Rwandan tour experiences to customer engagement, the event created a safe space for learning, networking, and empowerment.

“This workshop changed my perspective. I now believe I can create tourism experiences and earn a living from my heritage.” – Esperance M., Participant
As Rwanda continues to attract global tourists, this program ensures that local communities are not left behind but become active contributors to—and beneficiaries of—the tourism economy.
More workshops are planned in the near future, and the success of this first edition proves that when communities are given tools, training, and trust, they thrive.
